Focused ultrasound study published in prestigious Nature Biomedical Engineering

As published in Nature Biomedical Engineering on Tuesday, UVA’s focused ultrasound study revealed that focused ultrasound stops the growth of cavernous malformations in mouse models. We first heard this exciting news at Alliance to Cure’s Patient Meeting in 2023, when researcher Delaney Fisher presented preliminary results.

For an accessible explanation of the study and its implications, please read this article from UVA Health published today describing how focused ultrasound stops the development of cavernous malformation lesions.

Alliance to Cure is working with UVA to drive the planning of a phase 1/2 trial for focused ultrasound in CCM patients, with the goal of enrolling patients in 2026.

Our focused ultrasound work is part of our mission to drive a cure and improve lives for all affected by cavernous malformation.
