New Microbiome Study Published

For those of you who participated in the microbiome study by sending in a sample a couple of years ago, thank you! The findings were published and offer another step forward in our understanding of how the gut impacts cavernous malformation disease. It appears that the composition of the microbiome of people diagnosed with CCM is different from the general public. We don’t know how to fix this yet, but it is a good starting point.

There are two summaries of the research available. The first is an easier-to-read version in the popular press: https://newatlas.com/…/hemorrhagic-brain-disease-lesion-mi…/. The second is a more detailed account directly from the U of Chicago: https://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/…/uocm-ssp052620.php.
