A tumble on the soccer field changed everything for the Tafoya family. When scans revealed that 4-year-old Sakura had a cerebral cavernous malformation, clusters of fragile blood vessels in the brain that can bleed, her parents were shocked to learn the condition runs in families, and that many people in New Mexico are living with it unknowingly.
